Miss Mari

Miss Mari is a Minneapolis poet and spoken word artist whose work spans a diverse array of topics such as womanhood, Blackness, trauma, heartbreak, and love. Informed by her own triumphs and tragedies, Miss Mari's poetry is both intuitive and empathetic, as her work prompts audiences to be Romantic about their own life and tender with their own hearts. As the past winner of multiple poetry slams (Button Poetry Slam, ARAHA Poetry Slam, and 'Til the Last Word Poetry Slam), an alum of Tangible Showcase and Speaking Volumes, and the only featured poet to perform for Santa Ana's annual Roses from Concrete concert, she has continued to solidify her place as both a dynamic performer and sophisticated writer. Her work is whimsical, emotional, and imaginative; and upholds a conversational tone that works to establish a mindful intimacy with her audience. Through her performances, Miss Mari shows that poetry is an accessible medium to give anyone on the outside a glance into the unknown; and members of a community, a space to be heard and loved.
